I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Philippians 1:3 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thessalonians 5:18
There is power in gratitude. When poet Rudyard Kipling was at the pinnacle of his popularity it was reported that he received 25¢ for every word that he wrote, an unusual way to compensate for writing.
Not everyone was pleased with Kiplings success, however.
One of his critics mailed a letter to him and enclosed a quarter with the terse note, send me your very best word!
Kipling wrote back a one-word response. Thanks.
Studies have shown that people that have an attitude of gratitude are happier than those who do not. It contributes to mental health and well being.
There is a medicine in giving thanks. The next time you are discouraged, stop a moment and get alone with God. Thank God for five blessings, and see if your day does not brighten up.
There is a sweetness added to life when we say Thank you. Have you thanked the person who washed your clothes or who took you out to eat? Have you thanked your fellow teacher or office worker this week? Have you thanked your Mother or your spouse recently?
Kipling was correct. The most valuable word in our English language is Thanks! Please remember to use it daily.
